I'm looking at possibly picking up a '01 V-6 vert auto, Black with tan leather/top, but my concern is on the mileage. How long do the 3.8 tend to last? Car has slightly over 104xxx on the odometer, and if I do pick it up it will be replacing my DD, so you can see why I am wondering how much life the old girl has left in her.

The 3.8 has been around quite a while and as long as you take care of it it should last you a long time. They are a very good engine with a good rep. Also the one you are looking at has the newer split port intakes and heads which boosted hp from around 150 to 190 over the older 3.8's. There some guys in another forum I read with over 180K on theirs and they are still racing them even.

I had around 175k on my 96 right before I sold it and the engine was still very strong.

Thanks alot guys, looks like the POS SL1 is going to be a thing of the past(might toss it in the corner of the driveway for the winter time though) if all goes well, I'm going to try and bring home a new toy tomorrow. If I do I'm sure I'll be back with more questions then answers for you ;)

That looks really nice. I always liked black cars, just not how the show the dirt so bad..lol Any mods planned for it yet? Some new smoke tint head lights would really look great I bet.

nothing major yet, at least until I get a few extra bills paid off to clear up some mod $

My list of "wants" do include smoked head lights, fog lights, either a grill delete or one of the Upper/lower billet grills, and a light bar

I'd just clean up the stock headlights. Being an '01 it already has the darker lights. They finally started selling the headlight polish at most retailers in the car care section.

nice car but that was some nasty frame breakage, i even run a 24" monitor at 1920x1200 resolution and it still breaks frames.

anyway, i would recommend some new headlights, it dont matter what kind, so long as they arent yellow like those.
