Whats up everyone? I just tried to crank my new engine tonight, it turned over about 4-5 times then stopped, and I lost all of my power to the car. I reset the Optima battery and tried again. Now all I hear is the solonoid click, and then I lose all power again. Do I have a bad solonoid or is it a battery problem. :flag:

You sure it's the lack of power, and not an engine problem?

Check battery voltage, perhaps try it on another vehicle and see it starts that. Check connections, grounds, connection to starter solenoid, etc.

If a piston broke, or a valve smacked a piston, it could be preventing the engine from turning.. my buddy and I just went through this with his 5.0 Bronco.. thought at first it was electrical.. then after trying to manually turn the crank unsuccessfully, then tearing the engine down, it turned out to be a cracked piston.

Andy is spot on - try and turn it over by hand to make sure something is mechanically holding the motor up.

Absent that, check your primary electrical connections (battery cables, etc) and go from there.

Good luck.
