I am about to buy some wheels from a friend of mine. He has 4 17x9 black bullitts. At first I thought he just had 17x9s in the rear and the fronts were 17x8s but he has 17x9s all the way around. Anway, I have a quick question. I know the 17x9s should fit without issue on the back but I don't think they will on the front from what I've read. Is that true? Also, what is the widest 17" wheel that will fit on the front of stock 67-68s with out any modification?

That seems to suggest that a 17x9 would not fit on a 67, just 69 and 70, even on the rear. But I could have sworn there are some people on here running a 17x9 on a 67 on the rear.

Well I got the wheels and test fit them, no spacer. What do you guys think?

That looks good. You should test fit the front too to see if there is interference when turning. I would have thought you would have needed a spacer.

I only got 2 because they're 17x9s and from all I've read there is pretty much no way they will fit on the front stock. So I'm looking for 17x8s instead. I should be pretty safe with those right?

Also, I bought these from a friend so I wasn't sure of the brand. After some searching for some 17x8s I found this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/17-1...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

They have the same center caps so I think it's the same brand. However, an interesting thing I noticed from the ad...

    "FITMENT:

    Ford Mustang (5-lug) 1965-1973

Direct fit: no spacers or car modifications required - Guaranteed!

Will also fit other Ford & Mercury Rear Wheel Drive vehicles
with 5x4.50" lug-pattern and low backspacing"

So they guarantee they'll bolt straight up to 65-73 Mustangs with no spacers required nor additional car modification...intriguing....

Those wheels in the ebay link have 4.5" backspace which is the correct backspace for most of the classics (same as my 16x8 Vintage 45s).

So, these have different backspace than a late model wheel which is something like 5.9" or there about.

Thats cool. I didn't realize that they had that backspacing.

Yeah, You should be fine with the 17x8 in the front.

Will the center caps from an newer Mustang fit on them. I just don't like those caps much at all.

Yep the center caps are interchangeable. Something I plan on swapping, I don't like them myself either.

    Sweet!

It will look good when you get the other half of them on.
