I am going to check out 92' GT this weekend. I called up and the woman didn't know much about it because she is selling it for her son thats away at college. She had a list of things that he had gotten replaced on it. And one of the things was a rebuilt cpu. I just wanted to know what would cause a cpu to need to be rebuilt? I asked if it had any accidents and she said no. But I am going to get the Vin# anyway and check it out.

    Agreed.

They often have OEM decals removed or covered, and have reman'd stuff plastered all over them.

Now are there any severe reasons why the cpu may have had to been replaced or rebuilt? And are refurbed cpu's reliable?

One thing could be the car wasnt running right and they assumed it was the puter and bought a new one. The other thing could be they shorted something out and had to replace it.

Or maybe it just fried itself.

I dont see any problem with a remfg puter. No differnt than buying a use one off ebay. You take your chances either way.

I don't see a big deal with it. I've had friends fry their CPU's without really doing much.

I wouldn't pass up a clean car because of it.

I am going to take a look at it this weekend. Its clean, it could just use a good buffing. And all of the work that has been done to it has been done by the mechanic that I use. So he is trustworthy, I will just have him take a look at it. Its a black on black 5 speed with the louvered tail lights. Hopefully my tax return is enough to be able to afford it :D
