Going to start removing my somg stuff from the engine bay tomorrow. Just not really sure how to go about it. What should i actually delete and what should i keep. What do i do with the left over wiring? Is there a write up somewhere.
One question - Why? All the smog equipment shuts off when you go to wide open throttle. The EGR shuts down, the smog pump goes into free wheel mode and dumps the air out the bypass.
Disable the EGR without the resistor gizmo and you set a code & go into limp mode. Limp mode means reduced power.
If you have smog testing in your area, you will not pass emissions testing without it. There are some states that will exempt show cars and race cars that drive a very limited amount on public roads. It is probably illegal to sell or title a car with the emissions equipment removed in an emissions controlled area unless it falls under the race car or show car category.
Mainly because its always in the way, im in the middle of a Long tube install and its making the job twice as hard. Plus the weight savings and cleaning up then engine bay. Is there any way to do it without causing the computer to go crazy?
I just pulled it all and taped up the plugs that were not used.....pulled the pipe off the back of the heads and plugged the whole......and got a shorter belt....wasnt a hard thing to do.....also used a flat tappet lifter to plug the exhast
I think the smog pump is 3 bolts? Very easy to reach should take more then 10 mins to get it all out. Itll just be the pump itself, (dont be under the car when you get the last bolt, itll drop like a rock) if its stuck hit it with a hammer a few times till it drops. Then just pull out all the hosing. There will be two metal hoses, one to the mid pipe, and one that goes to the back of the heads. Take them out and plug the heads.
