Physically the 74 crank will fit and will work in the roller block as long as you use the 28 oz balance damper and flywheel. The only snag I see is the rear main seal, 1 pc. on the 88 block and 2 pc. on the 74 crank. I think you can machine off the lip on the 74 crank to accept the 1 pc. seal, not totally sure on that one.
.040 is pushing it on a 302 but possible with a sonic check.
