I have a '92 hatch with the 2.3L auto for the wife. I just installed a CD player in place of the factory AM/FM cassette piece. My question is do they make a shorter shifter or one maybe bent a different angle to get more clearance at the CD unit. I can only put a CD in when the car is at least in drive because the shifter is in the way. Just wondering what everyone else has done. Thanks.
I had the same problem before swapping trannys, The only solution I found was to make myself a custom plate, that will make the cd player sitting with a good angle...
Another option is to relocate your hvac setup. You can relocate it to where the radio was and move up the radio. Sometimes you can find the mounting kits to do this on ebay.
Same issue with my CD player.....I just stuck the shifter in Neutral when I switched CD's and went on with my life.
Swap your radio and HVAC controls! You need something like this........... It can be found at www.gaugeplates.com or you can build your own. Here's a link to a thread over on corral.net.............................. http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=709000&highlight=hvac
