So I got a flat tire about two weeks ago, and I've been riding on the spare tire since. I was waiting for a new set of Nitto 555s to come in (ordered them June 6th) so I could mount those up since my stock tires (at 38,000 miles) are worn out. For those of you who have never driven on your spare tire in your Mustang ... count your lucky stars!! It's embarassing and looks so stupid. Check out the pictures: One of the bald stock tires: The donut spare: From the back: New Nitto 555s (installing all four): On a side note, riding on the donut spare makes your car feel like it has 500hp. Just tap the gas and the tire squeals so easily. Not that I tried or anything, but it sure caught me off guard once or twice! Matt
Is the spare tire the same height as the stock tires??? If not you ran around for 2 weeks with the drive side tire turning faster then the pass side... I feel bad for your differential
lol same thing happened to me on my tires, waited 2 danged weeks for my wheels and tires cause they mess up order, had donut for too long, got NT555's too!
Pretty sure the donut spare is the same height as the stock rubber guys....don't give him a heart attack.

Considering how much rubber he's worn off of those stock tires in the pic above, I'm betting it's not a lot shorter. I'm sure his diff is just fine.
I hope so also. They do look alot smaller to me though, maybe its because they are about as wide as the tip on a No. 2 pencil, lol.
Well according to a tire size calculator on the net, the donut spare is shorter in diameter than the stock tire size. My donut spare (that came with the car from Ford) is a 125/90/15. Pretty tiny looking tire. It's 1.82 inches shorter than a stock tire. But, I'm not worried. I needed a t-lock rebuild anyways. Even before the spare was put on, sometimes I would only spin one tire in the rain. Makes me wonder why the t-lock is shot though, since I rarely spin the tires. When I went out with my buddy tonight to finish off the tires, I did two very short burnouts and during one of the burnouts, both tires spun, then the driver side stopped (which was where the spare tire was). I shifted to second and again only the passenger side spun. Soooo ... anyone know how much a t-lock rebuild goes for anyways? At the dealer of course. Superstang, I've only been down to Kingston once. If you come down to Ottawa, shoot me a PM and we can meet up! Matt
Swap the spare to the front if you aren't getting new tires anytime soon. That's not that embarrassing. You got a flat..it happens. I willingly drove around for two weeks with 4 15" V6 wheels with no centercaps while i took my stock wheels off to go put tires on (i refuse to bring the car due to a prior "incident"). People actually thought I wanted the car that way
V6 rims/tires aren't too bad. I put my Nittos on this morning and the car drives better now. I still need a t-lok rebuild, PCV valve, and brake pads though. Everything always seems to go at once.
You can get the parts to rebuilt the differential for $45 or so from Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030 Dealer will probaly charge a bit to rebuild it.
And since you'll have the rear end apart...some Cobra rear disks. And since you gotta make the front match...Cobra front disk brakes Do it
