Not trying to revive the flame-fest that the other thread had degraded to,
but since there was some inaccurate info posted there...
The '03 mach & the '01 Cobra have basically the same shortblock, with the exception of a slight compression increase from 9.85:1 to 10:1.
They both have the same forged steel crankshafts, weak cast powder connecting rods & Hyper-u-craptic pistons.
Both the Mach 1 & the '01 Cobra are equally as weak (or as strong) when boost is concerned.
Hand-built, yes. Better internals? Nope...
Not true at all.
Look at this dyno graph comparing my stock '01 Cobra to my stock '03 Mach 1 & tell me where all this extra Cobra top-end or mid-range power is:
The only thing hand-built about the '01 Cobra was the engine - the rest of the car goes down the regular assembly line, just like the V6/GT/Mach 1 cars...
Bottom line - both are great cars & should be respected for what they offer, no matter which one you choose.

GS4LEX said:I read in MMandFF mag that the MACH has really weak pistons and rods, where as the 99/01 cobra has a strong crank and better internals. So wouldn't the cobra be much better if u plan on adding boost or juice?
STUD said:I don't care if the stock mach1 is a hare faster in the straight line, the MUSTANG COBRA engine is HAND BUILT with a forged crank, and better internals.

STUD said:The mach's fall in power after 5k. My cobra makes 25 more hp between 5k and 65k, than the mach1 stock. The MACH 1 may have a little more power down low, but both cars fully modded(bolt-ons), the 99-01 cobra will pull on it after 5500rpm.
