My starter is grinding after did a motor and clutch swap. I tried two other starters and they did the same thing. The top starter bolt was completely stripped so i used a bolt/nut it. But now it grinds. Im pretty sure its centered but if it isnt how do i fix/adjust it so it is?
starter index plate? the inspection cover? if thats what you mean yeah but it is broken from bolt hole to bolt hole but-the rest of the plate is there...what to do?
yeah but the curved part from starter bolt hole to starter bolt hole is snapped off...idk if that would do it but i also have a bolt/nut for the top starter bolt cut the bellhousing threads were stripped...ugh
it could have something to do with it. If you try to bolt the starter without it the is a little bit of play and you could have problems liming it all up. Posted via Mobile Device
3rd try i tried two starters with the same result then my 3rd and it just clicked....im so confused...battery is good
You could try a million starters and it wouldn't make a difference if your starter index plate is missing the most important part.
umm But i even put washer before the bolts to shim it...the only part snapped off is between the bolt holes....so i need to drop the tranny and get a new inspection plate? Maybe wiring issues because the inside toward the flywheel is lined up as well as the bolt holes....im not understanding whats going on....
Perhaps i have a different mental image of what is going on vs what you are seeing. Can you snap pics?
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM..... I CHANGED STARTER AND NOW IT DOES NOT WORK KINDA SUCKS CAUSE I CANT SHUT MY CAR OFF WHEN I TAKE IT SOME WHERE MINE DOES NOT HAVE THE PLATE OU ARE SHOWING IN THE PIC BUT I HAS A SIMILAR SMALLER PLATE . ANY IDEAS
Yes, caps off, and start by telling us what you drive. Hard to guess what the prob is if we don't know what model and tran you have.
Need help with 4 cyl to 5.0 fox swap I swapped a 4 cylinder to a 5.0. I eliminated power steering and ac completly. Not even running eliminator pullies. I need an idea on how to run the belt because of the reverse rotation water pump. Can someone please help me out?
You might want to start a new thread next time, but purchase a standard rotation water pump http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-for...ater-pump-swap-now-having-cooling-issues.html
Thread jacking I agree with 5L5, you need to post up some pics. Does the motor turn by hand? Just wondering if maybe you have something in there binding up like your clutch bolts are too long or something. Put a wrench on the crank pulley bolt and give 'er a turn.
