Well last summer I bought a gsxr 600, and put a exhaust and air filter on it, and i said that would be the only mods Id doo to it....well soo far this year that went out the window, I was hoping to have my h/c/i installed by mid June....now that friends are getting faster bikes I felt the need to mod a little bit,,,,I dont think anything i will ever buy I will just leave it alone...I have a modding problem, anyway my rocket is in getting new front tire, coolant flush, speedohealer, front sprocket -1 down, R1 throttle mod, and a full dyno tune....I have kinda put the stang aside and its really starting to bug me!!! I NEED to have my stuff installed I have had my heads sitting in my house for like a year ..........I need to get back on track!!! And now the shop that was going to do the install is closing...now i dont no wear I'm gonna have it done!!! anyone eles find them self's puting things on the stang off, to have fun with other toys!!!
I used to ride. I would still love to ride, but my heart is in cars. I know if I bought another bike Id start modding it too, and well thats just too much money going to toys. Priorities man... priorities.
The problem is you have a 600. Of course you are going to want to mod it. Everyone I know that has gotten a 600 wanted a faster bike within a month or two. Don't get me wrong, they are fast and a good choice for a first bike, but its easy to get used to a 600. Instead of bothering with mods, just step up to a 750 or 1000.
I somewhat agree but disagree, even if I had a 1000 id mod it,, Fact is people with a 1000cc bike cant even use 50% of that power on the street, Even a guy that has been ridding for years will tell u they cant ride a 1000 to anywhere near its full potentential on the street, not many going to go 185 mph.... and not many could pull the lean angles off that a pro can of take a turn that fast..I ride with people that have 1000's and when we go hit the twisties I'm either right there with them or in front of them, depending on rider ability, I sometimes forget they are on a 1000..But when we are on the e-way and they pass me when im already doing 160 is when i no they are on a 1000, which even if i could go that fast i wouldn't, 160 is enough for me....In my opinion there is only 2 places a 1000 shines over a 600, Like I said before one is doing 180+ mph on the e-way,(no thanks) 2- at the drag strip ( dont go to the strip) plus i mostly did the sprocket mod for wheelies, and the tune to smooth out the power since that was the first years of FI on bikes and they need to be tuned to smoth them out a lil
I hear ya. Just retagged and reinsured my Cobra after getting bored with it and not driving it for well over a year (other than around the block).
I would be rocking a blue R6 if I had the garage space for one...esp. with the mpg they get. I got rid of my bronco as I did not have the time/space and lastly funds to get it were I wanted it. I miss that truck soo much, too bad I live to far away from work to have anything like that and not have it SUCK BIG TIME, 35-40mile one way trips to work would be a gas killer.
ya, with gas prices the way they are its realy nice to be able to drive it to work when the weather is there
I actually am debating now on picking a bike. Ive owned a ZX6R and a ZX7R, both 99 models. The ZX7R had a better top end, but weighed 470 lbs and was a tank. I got used to it and wished I would have gotten a liter bike. I think now that I am going to pick up a Buell XB12R Firebolt. I like the harley style lumpy idle in a v-twin, plus they have a ton of torque for wheelies. But they still have 100hp to help me keep up with 600s on the freeway once we get screamin. Im like you though, where I dont feel the need to go much more than 150 mph out in the open, so Im more going to enjoy the available torque from stoplight to stoplight. But like you were saying, if I did pick one up, the mustang mods would be few and far between.
I bought my new daily driver and an Xbox360 instead of heads . . . maybe I'll get the car running NEXT tax season
I have the same problem. I bought a CBR 600 RR thinking wow I wont have to do anything to it, it looks awesome and is already fast. I dumped a ton of money into it. More sticky tires, GPR Damper, Flush mounts, plate relocation kit, seat cowl, Pugi windscreen. I just couldn't leave it alone and its been the same way with Mustangs. The one I have now is a tad bit faster then the last one I had that I dumped over 10K into yet I still find myself seeking more power. No thats not the problem. I never modded my CBR b/c It needed to be faster its just that a lot of people have something and just want to mod it for the hell of it. My CBR was fast enough I didnt want it any faster and if I ever get another one Id buy a 600 again mainly b/c the insurance is cheaper and b/c of the next quote.... I couldn't agree more. Anyone that buys a 1000 after having a 600 and saying they needed something faster for the street is just total Show me anyone that can even ride any 600 super sport bike to its full potential as if you would at the track? Its just a stupid concept for people who want to stroke their ego by saying they have a 1000.
First of all I would not buy a 1000 as I think they are a bit too much as well. My preference lies with a 750 which has more of the handling manners of a 600 yet is a decent amount faster. However, what I will say is that although I respect your opinions I find them a bit off as well. Saying that the only thing 1000s are good for is high speed and the track is off in my book. By far the biggest thing I noticed riding a 1000 over a 600 is the torque you have riding around town. If you are cruising around town on a 600 you have to downshift too really get it to move, but on the 1000 you can leave it in a higher gear and it will still take right off. The power is incredible. Again, I am not advocating a 1000 at all, but what I am saying is that you certainly can use a 1000s power around town not just at 150+ and at the track. Is it needed? No, I side with you guys and say of course not, but hey let the 1000 guys stroke their ego and have fun with 'em haha. My favorite bike choice is a Gixxer 750.
