I need a little help with identifying thus steering rack that came with a car I bought. It looks new, but has been sitting for many years. The dimple code is SPR HW and 96C12B. The rack part number is RF-F6SC-3550-AA. The hard lines run like the 03 cobra, but the part that the rag joint goes onto is foxbody style. Thanks for any insight you can give.

Looks like an early style rack with no VAPS like a 86-89 Mustang or T bird rack
Smaller rubber bellows instead of the bigger diameter plastic ones on the newer style racks
All about the same anyway, except possibly the ratio on the Cobras and the plastic rings put on the GTs for the bigger tires
What are you trying to find out exactly?
Someone put just wire ties on the boots instead of the special clamps

RF-F6SC-3550-AA is the part number for the housing of a rack for a 1996+ Mustang.

The SPR code doesn't match any of the 99-04 racks

My guess is it's probably 96-98 vintage based on housing part number and no SPR match. BUT, it has the splined input shaft setup like the Fox cars and not the triangular SN95 hookup. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a parts store rebuilt rack that used an SN95 housing but rebuilt to Fox spec. Just a guess.

EDIT:
SPR KD is 1996-1997 ALL
SPR NJ is a 1998 V6
