stiff gas pedal

I just bought an 89 lx 5.0 5-speed. It has a rebuilt motor with GT-40p heads, E303 cam, cobra intake, 65 TBmm, 70mm mass air meter, 93 cobra computer, 24# injectors, ect...

The gas pedal is really stiff to push in at first and the rpms "hang". For example when I rev it up, the rpms come down a lot slower than usual and when I'm driving, they hang when I shift. Anyone know what would cause this or how I could change that? Thanks.

either the throttle is sticking or the cable is getting hung up. check for cracks in the cable casing and what not. pull the cable off the throttle and twist the throttle and see if it hangs up at all.

Dont overlook a vac leak. That was my first thought if this motor just went together or you did work on it recently. And the gas pedal stiffness is a separate issue. Look for a blue pill stuck to the top of the pedal. :p

Good luck.
