Stuck T5

ok i just bought an 89 gt vert w/ a 5 spd....today as i was comin home i downshifted form 5th to 3rd then to fourth and it stayed and wouldnt shift out of fourth till i parked it..turned the car off and beat the heck out of the shifter to get it outta gear..i know 3rg gear syncro is crap but how would it stick, does this mean new tranny..appreciate all input

Sounds like a rebuild is in your future.

can i limp it for awhile or is it one of them asap things? as well as is it worth it to go tremec?

Well....you could try to limp it, but if you're planning to rebuild it, you may do more damage than there's already done to it. Not to mention it may leave you stranded. As far as going to a Tremec being worth it.....sure, why wouldn't it be. I mean, it's all realative to what you're able to spend, but the Tremec is a stronger more durable transmission right off the bat! So you're already ahead of the game versus a rebuilt T-5.
