yes you have to have a donor t-top car the conversion really looks simple although i would not attempt it myself.i know a bodyshop here in the detroit area that can do it.it looks to be all pop riveted in so start looking around your junkyards and grab the t-top hardware.it can be done but it would be cheaper to find one already done.

I'm from Canada and I wroted to Ford.ca and sended an Email with my VIN to make sure it was a factury LX T-Top ... and they send me back a letter with all the optional equipement it was from the day one ! Including the t-roof !!!!

So proud now!!!!

what kills me is that no one knows how many were made, yet people still say "Oh this many were made." Really?: No one else knows but you? juuding by how many harttops were made, I just used 7% or so for the numbers, but numbers dont mean much to me, altho it would be nice to know how many were made.

Here is my 88

Also have a 84 T-coupe, but it needs a restore.

this is another one of lifes mysteries how many of these t-top stangs were actually produced in the years 87-88 era .someone needs to research this and come out with some facts.i also have heard of the 800 total produced number for the 88 model year.it would be nice to have something that actually backed that number up .i would also love to know how many of these cars are still around .i just saved another 88 t-top from the crusher 3 months ago although this car is a total basket case.i had a friend of mine take it being i have enough problems with the one i'm trying to restore.

I read the 800 number in a ford book. The 87's there are a lot of t-top cars.. I always see 87 gt t-top cars for sale on ebay.. Im restoring an 84 t-top hatchback myself..

do you have a title to this book i would love to get more information on the subject.i hope you 84 t-top is not as bad as my 88t-top my framerails are totally rotted out at the strut towers.i just pushed it out of the garage to see the extent of the damage a couple of hours ago and it looks like its just concentrated in that area.over the winter i pulled the motor and gutted the porno red interior i'm switching everything over to black.

WOW. I thought they stopped making t-tops with the four-eyed fox. I always thought the aero-nose fox's were "updated" from four eyes.

your not the only one to think that being there really weren't a whole lot produced and as i stated before i've only seen one and that was like 19 years ago and it was a white 87 gt.i would love to see one in person thats clean at one of these mustang car shows .

On the sticker in the doorjamb, under the "S" category you will find one of three things. Blank = Hardtop, C = sunroof or D = t-tops. That is how you can tell if the car was equipped from the factory.
