Been trying to hang around and keep up with Mike and Collin's threads as well as the other big threads on 5.0 talk (I can't seem to find much interest in the SW stuff lately).
Obviously my new car doesn't really fit the theme around here but the Corvette Forum is HORRIBLE for any decent conversation or discussion. 99% of responses are vendor referrals and guys who say "it cost this much to have a shop do it". F*ck that.
Anyways, I did a pretty poor job of just enjoying the car for what it was when I bought it.
It was super freakin clean, super freakin stock and SUPER freakin quiet. I bought a glass roof for it. Don't think I'll ever go back to the painted top.
So began the phases of ruining what was an 11,000 mile, driven to the golf course, warrantied old-man-mobile.
Phase 1:
First thing that had to go was the stock wheels. I'm a card carrying member of the black wheel fad so I bought Black ZR1 reps.
Phase 2:
Then the quiet stock mufflers started to wear on my mind. Car had nice Longtubes and a catted X when I bought it but the PO had put stock mufflers back on it. No Bueno.
So I picked up a used
Corsa Extreme package with 4" tips. In really good condition for about 50% off new price. They're awesome. Quiet below 3k and they scream when you lay into it.
I also picked up a set of splash guards to break up the plain sides the base model cars have. Planning to do a widebody conversion in the future but that's a big chunk of change.
Also swapped in a Z06 spoiler, don't care much for the full length stuff.
Changed out all the interior lights and reverse lights with LEDs. Looks a lot cleaner in my opinion.
This was during my "just gonna do minor stuff because the car is just fine how it is" phase.
I'm in constant denial of my illness.
Fast forward to the beginning of October (so about 45 days of owning it I guess?) and it's in pieces all over the garage getting the cam swapped out. Aka Phase 4.
