I like the 03-04 cobra like everyone else said you can make a ton of power really cheap but the reason I bought my 08 GT was because the engine bay is so much bigger than SN95. If I wanted to go to a bigger motor it should fit much easier in my car than a SN95. My dream is to have a 5.4 with a twin turbo set up but still have air conditioning

how can everyone have an 03/04 cobra? last time i checked, they haven't rolled off a mich line since march 2004 and this is 2009. they only made 13k in 03 and 5k in 04. thats 18k total in the world not counting all the ones that have been wrapped around telephone poles or made into track whores. weird that many live so close to you, but don't kid yourself. there's tons more 05-09 gt's rolling around, it's not even close

I fully agree everone gets their own opinion, but when you post up something as one-sided as you did, you're going to get attacked, and for good reason. I would prefer only TRUE FACTS on this site, or course including opinions. I don't so much care what griggs can do, you are going to pay a **** load of money for it. A lot of great cars use IRS. Aside from track queens, most people drive on the street, and the IRS can perform and ride smoother. If you think a new GT feels better than IRS, I don't know what to say, I've riden in both and made my choice........

Matter of opinion. But don't speak for everyone. The IRS does ride nicer.

eh.......nobody's going to 100% of the time. Just remember that IRS has it's own place. It's usually on supercars too. Z06, GT40, whatever. I do agree with you about putting a IRS in place of a LA but it rides better with IRS for street duty. I've riden in both. And geometry proves it.

Gearbanger is a bad one to argue with. He's usually right.

OH! And after owning both a SN95 and a S197, I'd vote for the S197. :nice:

I like the debate going on here... sorta.
But It makes me second guess what Im doing to my suspension.
If IRS isn't all that realistic unless your road racing, then why do all those "supercars" have it?
LA has a better launch, but IRS corners better?
Is that what this whole deal is about? That just seems more of a matter of opinion. A matter of how you race your car....
What if you want a mix of both?
I was toying around with a CTS the other day going around some really wide corners at a very decent speed, and my car slipped WAY before his did. I want to have that grip. I want to be able to take the corners like a bat outta hell.
But at the same time, I want a superior launch....
    What do I do now?
    How can I get both?
What would you guys recommend? or.... whats your opinion.

My answer is simple. Until a good IRS setup comes along for the S197 that can be swapped in your best bet will be to get a watts link setup. That's what I did and it works. There's a reason why most hardcore suspension experts in the mustang community eventually offer it as one of the upgrade handling options.

The IRS in the SN95s is not much better then our LA setups, stock for stock. Fully modded they're supposed to be about the same as well. Just because the two rear wheels are independently suspended does not mean that they control those wheels better.

An LA setup is better for launching because you have no camber change on the rear wheels, meaning you have the entire tire contacting the road.

I like the watts link for our cars except for the packaging difficulties, it's just hard to given them the proper geometry while making it compact. We'll see, I'll cross the bridge when I come to it.
