Well, I have come to a huge cross roads here. I LOVE my Fox and as of current is my DD but I want a new Mustang GT maybe 99' 04' years. I have been looking alot recently and my want is turning into a desire. I want to keep my Fox but I really love the car so parting with it will be hard but the xtra $$$ for a new stang would be nice. Second problem that I will have to deal with next Jan is the fact that my son will turn 16 and my insurance with two GT's on top of his truck an my wife's car will kill me. Not feasable unless I leave the car in the garage, untagged but what good is it if you cant drive it? If I decide to sell the car I am not even sure what I would ask for it. :SNSign:
If it's a nice clean car you will regret getting rid of it someday. I would hang on to it and get antique plates (25 years?) and collector car insurance and drive it only on certain days even if you park it for a couple years. Clean Fox's are hard to find and I wouldn't trade mine for any newer Mustang.
+1 dont get rid of it. unless you get a new edge cobra, dont get rid of it for a new edge gt. they are decreasing in value right now. so they'll get even cheaper. while the foxes are sky rocketing.
It is 20 years old so it has a ding or two, the inside is mint and everything still works including the A/C and the fog's. I had it painted 2 years ago and I was lucky enough to be able to do all the mods myself because it was 100% stock down to the air silencer and exhaust. Also the hatch had rust on the tailgate so I replaced it before I had it painted. I know I will regret it later but if I don't sell it now I will not get the $$$ I need to buy another one.
at some point a car has done its job if its time to move on then go for it..u can by another fox if u miss it that much your son should be paying for his own insurance there alot of good deals on 99-02 cobras i would spend the coin on the 4v
Selling a Fox = inevitable regret. SN95's = chick cars. You're not a chick, are you? (If so, PM pics of bewbies, pleez. ) Buying a newer car = payments + higher insurance. ANSWER: Keep the Fox, stop DD'ing it, ditch one of your lesser cars to make room for it, make the Fox your official weekend toy, and buy a cheap DD beater car. Problem solved.
yeah new edges are a dime a dozen. I tried selling my wifes 02. it only has 28k miles and I wanted 8k for it and I couldnt even get that. only had a bunch of damn kids that wanted to joy ride and beat on it come by the house. park the fox and get a different dd like mentioned above.
I parked my 5.0 and bought a new GT. My poor fox has been garaged for 4 years But now i'm kinda bored with the new GT. Kinda tough to sell them too. But it's paid for and everyone likes it more than "That escort Mustang" as my coworkers lovingly refer to my Fox I wanna drive the 5.0 more though. You never see them on the road. I see 10+ 99-04 Mustangs a day...all V6's though
here all the v6's are busted and the v8's are stock. and they're everywhere. pretty sad. and besides, it feels cheapy for some reason. and a fox is so much more fun to drive! alot easier to control, and has more potential
Well, I guess I will have to think on it some more. Looks like the majority say keep. I wonder what would happen if I posted this same thread in the mod motor sections. I bet I would get different opinions.
Get which ever will make you happiest. The 99-04 will make a betetr daily driver. Why isn't your son paying his own insurance under his own insurance policy???
And if you ask someone who owns both, they would say the newer cars make better DD's while the Fox'es are great project cars
Years ago I sold a fox body and woke up the next morning sick to my stomach. I immediately knew that I had f____d up. It took me about ten years to get another one, and it is now my life. To me, besides the 60's fastbacks, they are the baddest mustangs ever built. Just my opinion, but I think that the '95 to '04 body styles are hurrendous. Think long and hard about it before you do it, you will regret it.
I'm kind of in the same dilemma, I need a newer car especially because my friend with the garage and all the tools is moving to NY. To me the 99-04 stangs look way more aggressive and ready to rumble than the vagina body stangs. For me a newer stang means I can spend my time and money on performance and appearance mods instead of playing wack-a-mole with rust and I won’t have to get a paint job if I'm picky about the color. Then I would be one of the few people that actually have a special New Edge GT. (or maybe a 4v) If I had a place to tear the fox down and rebuild it Overhauln' style then that would be great, but I don’t and I also want to move far away from this area. The newer stangs should be valuable in years to come, I realized the other day that a '99 Mustang will be 10yrs old next year.
He is turning 16, and in Florida you have to be 18 to legally own the vehicle, thus get insurance. I have had Allstate since I was 18 and plan to keep them. They sent me a letter about 2 months ago stating what would happen when his 16th b-day came. Don't get me wrong here guys, I love this car and it has a lot of sentimental value that I can't go into detail about now. I want to keep it but if someone offered up 4k for it I would take it. I personally have mellowed out of the fast Mustang mentality and want the 04' Gt 'Vert cruiser. I just cant afford 2 GT Mustangs, My wifes 08' G6 and my sons 93' Ranger that he will probably total in 6 months.
im in miami, and he can legally own it with your permission. he will pay alot for insurance but w/e. u can always mark him under occasional driver.
