i have a 1977 mustang it has a 2.3 when i bought the car the engine was trashed at 53,000 original miles no wear on the car that tells me its 153,00 but anyways i bought a replacment 2.3 at an auction the engine was said to be built by esslinger it has the degreed cam and is really clean inside but it came with a 5 speed the engine and trans came out of a 90 somthing ranger anyone have a clue on how difficult it is to change from the 4 to the 5 speed?

:D Aside from the trans mount and the tunnel, I am unsertain whatelse you might have to do. I am concerned about the clutch fork, and the driveshaft. The fork might hit the tunnel and the driveshaft may need to be shortened,but I honestly do not know. you will need to start with those though. The reason I said tunnel at the beginning is you will have to elongate it for the new placement of the shifter,either forward or backward(never did the conversion).
