Well I pulled the trans out as some of you know to do a little repair to it . Now it's all fixed and rerady to go back in and I want to do some more up-grading while I'm at this step . So I pulled the clutch and pressure plate off today to get to the Fly wheel > I plan on putting a Alum flywheel and a very strong clutch in my baby > Well long story short > my motor isn't a cobra motor >:mad: yes I wrote it right > my motor is a 6 bolt Lincon motor with the cobra intake and valve covers maybe the cams I don't know how to tell . > I was so pissed I ran in and got my title and double checked the vin > it is a cobra but the motor is not >
I'm so pissed I can't see strait > I stopped what I was doing and picked up my tools and walked away from the car > I don't even want to look at it right now >
WHERE can I get a Cobra motor ? I don't want to pay e-bay stupid out-ragous price's $2500- $3500 > there are cars on there for sale for that price !!!!!!!!! I've thought of building a motor out of the motor I have with a 8-bolt crank > but I won't be able to finish it this year!!
It will be next spring at the earlyest to finish it . > could part out the motor I have and probley get part of the way there > but I don't know . I do know I will not run the car with a 6- bolt motor in it . It just won't hold up .

I'd go bat**** on the guy you bought it from...

I'm almost positive you could seek some sort of legal compensation from the person you bought it from? Misrepresentation of the product or something? I took a course in my criminal justice classes on the whole buying/selling market law, but it was high school and I didn't spend a whole lot of my time in class...:nono:

That sucks but I doubt you could recover anything from the previous owner. He might not have known, plus you would have to prove damages and that wouldn't occur until you sold the car at a reduced rate because it wasn't the original motor. At any rate these 96-98 Cobras aren't worth much unless they're original or near original. Mine's a 97 with many mods and 3 owners before me.. At best it's worth 5 grand and the tax value is less than that, LOL.
Jeremy, You've been thru a lot with your Cobra but we haven't seen too many pictures. Post some!

i would sell you my 03 cobra motor reasonable but not sure if i want to keep my aluminum block or use the 03 cobra block for my build...... my best advise to you would be pull your motor, buy a stroker kit port your heads and get a set of comp cams and forget the whole thing happened.

Thats what I had thought about but have decided yet > I found a wreck on craigslist > the guy told me he'd sell the motor out of it for $1500.00 and I could hear it run before I pulled it > plus I could part out my motor and make some of my money back.

I fell your pain, I bought my 97 cobra a year ago with what I thought to be an exhaust leak...long story short it was a cracked piston. Our local mustang tuner confirmed it and gave me the option of a mark viii engine with low miles installed for 2 thousand or to do a complete rebuild for 5500. Well I was where you are at in thinking it's not a cobra with out the proper engine so I sold my bike and some other **** to go broke putting it back the way it was supposed to be. I was told the only difference is the power potential so if you don't have big plans or a big budget then I would rock it till it pops. Or if its killing you I have the long block with 38k and a cracked piston for you to rebuild. But now that I look back on it I think of how much money I could have saved by going with the mark viii and dealing with the 10-15hp difference. I wouldn't worry about it, you didn't know until now so I say again rock it til it pops. I will sell the long block for 250 bucks if it bothers you that bad.

I believe that your title is suppose to state at the least that the odomeeter is incorrect, so there might be something you can do. Go to the bmv and ask.

I don't mind the mileage thing >or a motor swap > I really don't care how many miles are on my stang if you like (love ) a car who cares about the mileage > my pet peav is I've been spraying100 plus shot of Nitrous in to a motor that IS NOT BUILT in any way to handle that kinda thing where a Cobra motor is much more likely to take it . after some searching I found that a Lincon motor and cobra motor have diffrent pistons in them and my motor DOES have the (9.85.1) cobra pistons in it so it makes me think that something happened to the crank and they did a bottom-end repair but were too cheap to fix it right > SO do I find a 96-98 cobra motor to build it or find a 03/04 cobra bottom end and build that ?

I'm really sorry man.... some people.....:notnice::notnice::notnice:
But every used car is sold AS IS....
It could have a 4 cylinder in there, the car is still a COBRA. And that's what matters legally.
There is nothing to get back from the seller.
