Going to go to a traction loc tomorrow and didn't remember what I need to add to the gear lube to help the clutchs. I didn't want to get to the parts store and have the idiots there not know what I was talking about!
Uh....I dont know what you call the clutch pack in my hand...but yeah..its clutchs...detroit lockers dont, but these friction ring things are something different!
there are several gear oils you can use with out additives, one is red line synthetic shock proof gear oil 75w140, another is AMSOIL Series 2000 75w90, amsoil also makes slip lock additive, and theres LUBEGARD Limited-Slip Supplement, I dont know what the best one is though
You can also purchase the Ford friction modifier to add to whatever gear oil you use. Comes in a small bottle and is available from Ford directly or most of those "drive in" lube shops will have it.
Just hold your nose when you use it.....the most evil smelling substance on earth!
Better go back to class, you've just failed rearends 101. Traction-loc does have clutches and like TurboII posted the additive he needs is called Friction Modifier
