the tag on my diff says 3SL27. theres other stuff after it but i am only concerened about the gearing. i know the car has 3.27s cause i got underneath it and marked the fender and tire with tape and it took 3 1/4 turns of the driveshaft to make the tape marks line back up. it is a 89 gt 5 speed. i got it from the original owner and he said nothing in the drive line has ever been replaced? what is going on with this??????!!!!!!!!!! please help. :worship:
I belive you are correct. To separate the whole number from the decimal, they put what kind of diff it is. I belive SL means semi-locking or something like that. I belive 3.27's were an option for some cars.
There is a door-tag code on 94-95's, but I cant remember if foxes have one as well. Makes it easier to check. 3.27's were an option for automatics (as 3.08's were optional for sticks). Good luck.
all cars have the door tag code. the guy who i got it from had the car repainted and the tags thrown away. i know for shure its 3.27s from doing the tape thing but i just dont know what the SL means. my friend with a 92 lx with 2.73s has a tag on his rear that says 2L73. idk what the s is for and y my car has 3.27s
3sl27 SL is just another suppliers tag for Slip Limited. The ford book I have states that 3SL27 is just another tag for Traction Lock 3.27 ratio.
