ok... I replace both coils, plugs and wires... put every with back on the coil where it came off... car runs better, one plug was pinched (not on the plug, pinched between the plug and cylinder head)on the exhaust side... rus ALOT better........

now I check the wiring with the net, and the wires seem to be off... one is where two should be, two is where four should be and three and one are off as well....

now car idles fine, revs fine... drives fine??? but should it???

I've only got one question..

You said "I replace both coils.plugs and wires" .It's a 4 cylinder.Correct me if I'm wrong but, these cars had 1 ignition coil wired to a distributor.Where does the second coil come in? I owned an 88 LX once with a 4 cylinder. So this is how I know this.

Is this a special year they made coil packs in 2.3L Fox body Mustangs?

Yeah, 91 and up had 2 plugs per cylinder, and 2 DIS coil packs
