I have NEVER posted any pics or given any real back round info. on my little 67 in the 8 months that I have been here. Yes, I have posted pics of parts on my car, but never the car itself. So I think an introduction to the endless project is due.

I bought her back in August of 02 off EbayMotors for $2800 shipped sight un-see (I KNOW, I KNOW!!! Trust me, I have learned my lesson!!) This is not only my very first car, but also my first project car (at this time I know nothing about cars). To make a VERY long story short, the seconded day I had her, the engine made a very loud bang noise, followed by a grinding noise. As it turns out, the rocker arm for the 3rd cylinder’s exhaust valve was the wrong size, and caused the valve stem to snap at the keeper, causing the valve to drop into the cylinder. It not only shattered the piston, but it also bent the connecting rod with gouged the cylinder wall, and to top it all off, one of the piston chunks (the biggest of course) got caught by the counter weight on the crank, and rammed into the bottom of the cylinder wall; taking a chuck out. The engine was pulled, and taken to a machine shop were the cylinder was bored and sleeved. At this time I found out that two of the bolt holes for the timing cover (both next to coolant passages) were not only stripped, but the holes was so big that a heillacoil couldn’t be used. A diesel crack repair technique was used to fix them. I also had the head redone at this time. After that, I took the parts home and rebuilt the engine all by myself (my first engine rebuild ever). 3 months later it was done and I dropped the engine back in along with the tranny. Much to my surprised the engine ran; however, I couldn’t start it without using starter fluid. The cause was the carb, which only one side was working. I rebuilt an engine so far, why not add a carb to the list? It took 1 week for me to do it, but after I bolted it on she fired right up and ran great.

She was once again back on the road and stayed like this for about 3 months when I pulled her off the road to strip the interior. I got it tore apart, replace the driver side floor pan, replaced the dash pad and painted the dash.

I drove her like this for about another month before I decided to redo the suspension (the rear was really low, mostly because I kept all my engine parts in the trunk for the month it took me to pull my engine.) After 20 hours straight of working on the suspension (14 hours spent on those eye bolts!!!!) it was done. I also bought my buddies old rims and tires off him for $100.

About 3 weeks later I got a set of tri-y headers and put them on, then got a set of flowmaster 40’s installed. Then in Nov of 03 the diff went out (as some of you already know), so I decided to redo that and at the same time, I figured I would chuck that old 3 speed and put in a nice 5 speed. That pretty much is where I am at right now. I did strip off the old paint and primer it (which did work out at all) and started to locate all the bondo and rust on the body. After this little diff and tranny job, I plan on finishing the body…that is unless I break the tranny sometime down the road.

Edit: whoops, forgot the pics.

Ouch. Hey you are in Livermore? That stang is not a "T-5" is it? It looks like my buddy's old stang that he sold years ago in Livermore, and that sounds like his "style" of engine work. :)

If you can get the rest of that car looking like that new engine compartment, you will be set!

Just a friendly :D suggestion. Your post is difficult to read because it is all one paragraph. Recommend that you sepatrate your thought into more readable segments.

 Ya, I probably should have, but I was pretty tired when I posted it, so syntax wasn't on my mind. Here are some pics to give you guys a better idea of what damage the engine took.
