The last bit of it shoed more of the street racing and also that couple that gets crushed on the wall was from a dude racing around and driving bad.I watched about half of it and got the point. Didn't really see anything to do with street racing, instead it was just stupidity and not understanding how to operate a vechile and obey the laws of the road. Not saying the video isn't something that is good to watch but its the truth. Kid crossing the street and texting at the same time without looking either way is just plain stupid, not the poor driver of the cars fault at all. Though in reality I am sure he/she would get charged for something or other. That is what should be shown in high schools and drivers ED.

exactly. all i got out of this vid was
a) driving and texting is dumb
and
b) if you peel out at a stop sign people all around assume you have a small penis.
he passed him on a corner? wtf? since when is that street racing? im not gonna get into it but i think most people's definition of street racing and mine are two totally different things... driving on your cell phone and passing people around a corner isnt street racing, its being a moron.
I think you guys are missing the point of why Chris posted it. Most of the video wasn't taken from the driver's point of view, it was the innocent person(s). Remember, when you're racing down Main St., in Anytown, USA, no one is expecting you to be coming at them at 70 MPH, or whatever the case may be. People become very complacent and don't realize the car is closing on them at a high rate of speed, or distracted and lacking focus on what they need to be paying attention to. They look and see a car off in the distance, and understand that they should have plenty of time to cross the road, turn in front of them, etc. I'm not saying either of you personally partake in street racing, rather I'm giving my, and probably Chris's interpretation of the video.
Yeah, see, real street racing, back in the day, was as highly controlled as it could be- designed, around Chicago, anyhow, around of the lack of a track within an hours drive, and making some fast cash. And by cash, I mean thousands. Boris Jurkovic had an 8 second 68 Camaro, and I saw him LOSE. Real racing. But we had no track. You didn't want any people that weren't necessary there. Weeknights. Winter(on clean, dry roads). It wasn't done on your local suburban storefront main street, in or near any neighborhoods, or obvious locations like that. The idea was to make money, so you could race again and make more money. Doty Road was an interstate frontage road, and my grandfather told me stories of when the racing was there, my dad has yarns about racing on the interstate right next to it, before it was opened, around 1962. I liked South Chicago Avenue, it was an industrial area of the city, 6 lanes wide, lit all the way. It was just as stupid, but I never saw any real danger of some innocent driver going for groceries at 3 am getting run over. Idiots that did that stuff were just that. Street racing is different than just being a retard. And I drive for a living now, talkers/texters, punks in Civics, women putting on eyeliner on the interstate, guys reading novels or newspapers- this is all commonplace. And I'm glad I outgrew being dumb enough to tear up the 5.0. We have Route 66 now.
Ding ding ding. You got it, that is exactly what I was thinking.
You are merely ignorant and possibly a bit too egotistical to not understand the actual point of this thread. If for a split second you, or anyone else on this forum, beleive that showing off and street racing isnt a huge issue that can ruin the lives of many in an instant, you are horribly wrong. Maybe YOU don't act like an idiot behind the wheel, but there are MANY people who do and many who are active on this forum, regardless of if they choose to admit it here.
How many times have you pulled out of someplace and kicked the car sideways just because it is fun? I know I have. How many times have you done quick highway bursts side-by-side while cruising with a buddy. What if you nailed it just for a little ha ha, and some non-paying-attention idiot texting pulls out in front of you? It's everybody man, and we should all use more care when driving. I do not mean to single you out, but you seem to have some sort of chip on your shoulder and feel the need to discount the usefulness of this video.
I have done MANY things in my cars that, in retrospect, I am not proud of. I never thought much of it until I watched this video. Of course I knew better than to do those things and knew somewhere in the back of my head that something bad could happen...but to see it this graphically kinda hit home for me. I actually apologized to my g/f for driving like an a$$hole after I watched this.
The point is that no one should take offense to the idea that this can happen to ANYONE, and because we do drive the high powered cars that we do, we should use care and our damn heads when driving. Am I saying we shouldnt enjoy the capabilities of our cars? Absolutely not. But also dont take the "waahh but I dont street race, and I've never seen anything happen in a street race because we blocked off streets, only had the smart people there and made sure Chuck Norris was there to save any innocent person from the path of a speeding car" attitude.
