Would you pay your car off, or buy a blower? I have no issue at all making my monthly payment, and will be coming into a small bit of cash soon. Should be around 6 grand, and I owe about 5 on the car still. I REALLY want to put a KB on the car.

well we all know the smart thing would be to pay the car off, no question about that. now the question is should you do the smart thing or the thing that you want to do. if i were in this position i would be ordering a blower right now, and probably screw myself over later on down the road, but ahh hell with it blowers are cool! :nice:

What's the interest rate on your loan? It may not make that big of a difference anyway though. If you only owe ~$5K, you're not really paying that much in interest anyway, maybe another $300ish over the term of the loan.

So you could pay it off and save that interest money and put aside what you would be making in payments and wait to buy the blower or say screw it and realize that you're only spending an extra $300 in interest to get the blower now.

Fair warning (like this has never been said before)....blower cars are more apt to break than a near stock car. IMO a blower on a broken car that you're making payments on would suck worse than an paid for NA car with a grip of cash in the bank.

I would like to say I would pay mine off, but $6k doesn't come my way too often and it would be very tempting to get the twinscrew! That or trade it in for an '03/04 Cobra and throw a couple thousand in for a down payment.

Pay it off and be happy with what you have.

Calculate the interest you would save by paying it off now instead of making the normal payments. Paying intrest is a huge waste of money and you end up with nothing in return. Then, imagine what you could buy with that intrest money instead of simply handing it to the bank for nothing in return.
What if you bought the blower instead of paying off the car and something broke? The repair bill would be substantial and you'll be SOL because you still owe money on the car and have nothing to drive.

I did the math, and it looks like if I paid it off now, I would save a little over $200 in interest. This kind of scratch doesn't show up in my life like this very often, so I have been hovering around KB's website a LOT. Everytime I think I am going to place the order, I daydream about wrapping the car around a pole on the first drive after the install. Damn you, rational thinking!

lol. You cant think like that though. If your a responsible driver then youll be ok. The only way youll wrap it around a pole is if your driving like an a**whole. That could happen with any car, supercharged, turbo'd, nitrous, or a bonestock GT. The power will take alittle to get used to. Itll be like your first pretty fast car, just get used to the power, then youll know how to drive it.

Mines been paid off for years, and although I'll buy a blower one day, I'm not ready yet. Its a lot of money, and I have other stuff I'd prefer to buy rather than making the stang faster right now. IMO Its totally up to you.

Car payments suck. Whats your interest rate on that loan?

EDIT: If it only saves 200 in interest, then who cares. Do you want to A: Have no loan payment, or B: pay loan payments and have blower. Up to you my friend.

Equipping a blower will start a mod domino effect you will spend much more than you expect...

Resist the urge to spend your money like it is burning a hole in your pocket.

It sounds to me like the same amount of money will be spent either way. Personally, I'd get that thing paid off, set the extra aside, and then each month take what you would be making as a car payment and put that back for the KB.
