    J-car rack and pinion

I realize this thread is very old. But if any of you are still around, I am using a re-manufactured rack and pinion unit from a '92 cavalier. It has a 11/16" DD input shaft, but I cannot find a steering u-joint that is 11/16" DD, anywhere. Did any of you have this issue?

J-car Rack And Pinion Conversion (u-joints)

Hey Guys, I know there are several threads out there already discussing rack and pinion conversions using a rack from a j-code GM car, so starting another one is not my intent. I need help locating u-joints, so this question is for those who have already performed this conversion. I plan to...

    '69 Front Floor Support Install

Thank you for checking on that for me. My measurements seem to be about the same as yours, though my rockers seem to be about a half inch wider than yours for whatever reason. I feel like I am worrying too much about getting these supports in just the right place. As long as I do the best I...

    '69 Front Floor Support Install

Hey Guys, I'm working on installing new floor supports on my '69 sportsroof. I installed a complete dynacorn floor pan assembly which came with floor supports already welded on but, I cut them off because I thought they were in the wrong place. At the very least they were not parallel to...

    '69 Front Frame Rail Installation

For that angle, should I just make sure that the bracket is at a 90 degree angle with the frame rail?

    '69 Front Frame Rail Installation

Cool, thanks Jim. have you ever had problems with the fitment of the dynacorn engine mount brackets?

69 Mustang Shock Tower Parts Source?

I think I can get the welds loose without totaling the bracket. The threaded rod is a great idea, I will definitely try that. Thanks

    '69 Front Frame Rail Installation

Hey Jim, thanks, this is great. I really appreciate you taking the time to gather these. The all thread is a good idea. For the 25 inch measurement, is the tip of your tape measure even with the top of the frame rail?

    '69 Front Frame Rail Installation

I am cutting/drilling my new motor mount pieces off of my shock towers to change the angle of them (the top of my shock towers are too wide). Jim (sorry to keep bothering you)- would you be willing to take a few measurements to help locate these pieces front to back, along the frame rail, when...

69 Mustang Shock Tower Parts Source?

Darn. Lesson learned. When I welded a pair onto my new shock towers, I didn't have an export brace or monte carlo bar bolted up and now I am finding that the tops of the shock towers are about an inch to an inch and a half too far apart. I tried just pulling them together but they are pretty...

69 Mustang Shock Tower Parts Source?

Hey Guys, I am having a hard time finding a specific part I need. I am looking for just the motor mount support brace that welds to the shock tower and frame rail. It bolts to the engine mounts and houses the lower control arm. I can find new shock towers that come with these pieces but I...

    '69 Front Frame Rail Installation

If you're measuring your wheels for alignment, try doing it again with the wheels on the ground. You may get a slightly different measurement when the suspension compressed.

    '69 Front Frame Rail Installation

So, I tried attaching the front end this weekend but quickly realized that the inner floor supports coming off the dynacorn floor pan were about 3/4" too narrow. I couldn't get the frame rails to line up. The only way I saw to solve this was to cut them off and weld on new ones in the correct...

Progress Thread Horse Sense - 66 Coupe To Fastback Conversion

I've read through this thread before, but I keep running through it just for the pictures; very inspiring. What kind of primer do you use and where do you get it?

    '69 Front Frame Rail Installation

Thats great, Jim. Thank you. I appreciate you climbing under there to get these measurements for me. Now, I just hope that dynacorn put those assembly skid holes in the same place. (I installed a complete dynacorn floor.) I think with these measurements coupled with the fender apron...

    '69 Front Frame Rail Installation

Jim, I do have an export brace and a monte carlo bar. They are both Scott Drake brand so I would assume they are accurate. I will bolt them up too when I get everything in place and I hope they will fit well. Actually, now that I think about it, I did fit the export brace before I cut the car...

    '69 Front Frame Rail Installation

Wow, Jim this is awesome. This is just what I was looking for. Thank you. Like you said I will screw everything together first then I may even hang a door and fender just to see how the gaps line up. I have the car outside on my driveway and since the weather in central Illinois is not...
