my 69 stang has a 351m/400 engine and not the original tranny. where can i get the best 351w or 427 for the money, like long block. if im gonna go to marrige counseling it should be for the best.

I'll agree with that. I may be disecting the terminology too much but when I hear the term "remanufactured" I do think of the guys like PAW or FRPP at the high-end and the local autozone/advanced long-blocks as the mainstream. Remanufactured implies mass produced using stock grade components and stock/OEM type tolerances and attention to detail, and they are priced accordingly. Folks like DSS or CHP (back before they sucked...LOL) are more what I would call "built" or builders. These outfits use high grade parts/components and blueprint everything, and they are priced accordingly as well.mtbdoc said:PAW is not in the class with a DSS or World Products engine/kit.
Wrong Dan------ the 400 was first produced for the 71 model year in full size Fords and Merc's. It wasn't used in pickups til 1977. Cams, heads, timing set, oil pump, pans, and maybe some other parts interchange with the Clevelands, pistons too with some mods. Right though that the 351M was a destroked 400. I don't see how they got one in a 69 Stang though, must have never got to change the spark plugs. I tried one in a 67 engine bay a few years back. There was ZERO clearance between the heads and shock towers, certainly not enough to access the plugs.Dan H said:The 400 is a taller deck Cleveland based v8 with a big block bolt pattern built by ford for trucks in the mid 70s to replace the 390FE.
The 351m ("modified") is a destroked 400.
The only parts interchangable with the 351c are the heads.
