Borg Warner T5?

It will bolt up and work in a 5.0
But it is not a strong as the 5.0 T-5s.
I know several guys running the 4cyl T-5's and they have no problem. The first gear is a lil better than the v8 t-5s. It kinda makes it seem like you have a gear in it.

If you drive it like most 5.0 drivers it will be toast in a short while.

Longevity is a function of how you drive it. If you granny shift it and keep the RPM’s low, go easy on the launches, it will last a long time.

The 4 cylinder T5 has a lower torque rating then the V8 trans does. The first gear is like 3.97, which makes it almost useless with 3.55 or better gears. First goes up in wheel spin and is gone so quick that if you blink you'll hit the rev limiter.

The 4 cylinder T5 uses a different pilot bearing. The pilot bearing you need is for a Ford Ranger Diesel from Auto Zone Part #14672

All in all there are better ways of doing it. The innards are the same except for the input shaft and cluster gear. If you got a V8 T5, you could rob it for the parts you need to make the 4 cylinder T5 the same as the V8 one.
