E303 cam not getting proper lift.

I have put a motorsport E-303 cam in a 1998 ford explorer 5.0 engine. The cam is suppose to give a 498 lift on the intake and exhaust. I put a dial indicator on the pushrod and it is only doing 298. Any help with this matter? I am putting the engine into a 1990 saleen mustang. It has 1.6 ratio roller rocker arms. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Remember, the cam dosn't have .498 lift by itself. It is multiplied by the rocker ratio.

Also the lifters have to pump up when the motor is running also.

The best way to check cam lift if with the cam out of the motor and check each lobe. Then take your # and MULT. by the rocker ratio.

As he said, you won't have the advertised lift at the end of the pushrod because the lift that they advertise is after you include the rocker arm ratio.
