As the tread states, I have a set of mac l/t's and one of the bungs threads are stipped, can i get that bung grinded off and a new one welded in?
Thanks,
Elliot
i would just weld it shut, and put in a new bung as close as you can to the old one. The threadmay be hard to find in helicoil or thread restorers. m18x1.5!
Buy the o2 sensor tap from autozone and try to clean them/ repair them. I did this to some long tubes I just bought. If that doesn't work weld shut and install new bung
Cool, just wanted to make sure it was possible. Do you think it could be done with the header still on the car? like if it was up on a lift at an exhaust shop. are o2 bungs all the same thread or does the fox body use a specific thread?
anyone know what size thread they use? if i could order one and take it somewhere im sure it would save me some buck so I dont get ripped at the muffler shop.
It's a pretty common size. If your uncertain, call ford, but like I said I thought mine was jacked up and I bought the o2 thread restorer in the section with the helicoils for 5 bucks and it worked like a charm. If you do choose to do this make sure to use some penetrating oil while you chase the threads. Good luck.
