How does the stock system sound?

I'm wondering how the stock sound system in the '06 GT sounds. What does anyone that has it or heard it think? I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to get the Shaker 500 or just leave the sound system stock and upgrade it with my own system later on.

I've heard people say the 500 doesn't sound the greatest either but I don't wanna go rip panels off my Mustang right after I get it to upgrade the sound system myself since I'm not very experienced with that stuff yet.

I have the Shaker 500, it sounds good, but not great. I'll be putting better speakers in soon, along with a sub in the trunk. That should fix it right up. It sounds good enough that I'm not in a rush to change to speakers, even though I have them already. But, everytime a really good song comes on, I wish I had already changed them. So basically, you can make do with a 500, but at some point, you may want to upgrade if you really enjoy good sound quality (sp?).

I have the base 4 speaker system

The base system is good enough to get you to the point where you will have enough courage to install your own gear. With all the excitement of the new ride, the stereo probably will be an after thought for a while. I see a lot of people on the boards upgrading their shaker 500 and even 1000's. $ is better spent in the afetrmarket IMHO. Oh yeah, I'm tired of Ford's green display on their radios my sisters old '86 Escort had. Come on Ford. How bout an update.

I only got the Shaker 500 because I needed to get the Premium package to get leather or something like that. It doesn't sound bad, but the radio reception is a little subpar IMO, and the 6-disc changer is LOUD when it is switching disks. I plan on changing mine out at some point, but it I'm not in any rush at this time.

I have the stock stereo and it's ok. It's not terrible, but it has no bass. I agree with 1meanZ, after having the "system" for 600 miles I'm ready to put in my own stuff. I wouldn't get the upgraded system, spend that money on a much better aftermarket system. I'd love to go with a nav/dvd unit in the nice large space they give you! Speakers and and radios aren't too hard to do, they make harnesses for just about everything. The hardest part is getting to the speakers :)

I have the 500. Sound quality is good by my standards, but I'm not really that into it. I'll probably put one 10" sub in the trunk, eventually, 200 watt amp with it.

I do find the base radio and speakers are just fine, it dont like scratched cd's. speakers are up high.
I rented one once and the speakers were down low in the door and took up another inch of leg room. so Im assuming that this is a shakers system. guys?
