Fox Identify Ecu/ecm Chip Or Adapter??

Does anyone know what the hell this thing is ??? i got a A3M from a friend that knows nothing about fox bodies and it had this weird looking chip thing forced in to the connector... it was really hard to take out but its clearly a chip or adapter ??? What the hell is this thing and what is it used for ???? i installed the new ECU with out it... never started the car yet tho before i hear from you guys.

Looks like one of the diagnostic adapters that allows you to probe the pins with a voltmeter with the computer connected.

Do I need this thing or was it just like someone's testing tool that they left plugged in to it ?

You shouldn't need it connected all the time. Just if you need to do diagnostics.
