Need help with carb/intake problem

I would appreciate it if anyone could help me out with this. I have 302 and picked up an aluminum intake (4 hole) for the 600 CFM Holley that I have planned to go on the car. The intake E3ZE 9425 FD has the hole for the Exhaust gases to come up to the EGR plate. Any phenolic spacer that I have looked at seems to follow the base of the carb (which is different from the top surface of the manifold) and just comes to the edge of the hole for the exhaust gas. I would think that the heat would blow any gasket out in no time. Is there any aftermarket spacer available that are designed for that intake that has an offset to cover and block off the exhaust hole. Conversely, would it be easier to try to find an old EGR spacer and just put a plate on the over where the EGR Valve would be attached?
I would like to put in a 1/2" spacer just to get clearance for the throttle linkage and give some space between the carb and those exhaust gases in that hole. Thanks in advance!
