Odd e-brake issue tonight

Tonight my cousin parked his 95 cobra in my driveway which is a step hill. About 2 hours later he went to start it and as he sat down it started rolling backwards. He was also able to pull the e-brake handle up allot higher than normal. It never did stop the car, he had to actually press the brake pedal. This is the first time it happened, normally the handle will not go up past half way. Any ideas on what could cause it to just start doing that?

Possible one of the cable snapped??

cable snapped or the connection to the e-brake arm in the rear assembly broke loose or something. It is a mechanical system so something failed

mine does that.. mine is a bad e-brake handle. I am too lasy to change it LOL
Keep the e-brake adjusted tight and it does not let the handle get too high to allow this to happen again.

I have to agree something broke, but I also remember there being a Recall on Mustang Handbrakes in the 94-98 Era.
