Opinions on the Ford Racing 5.0 w/ GT40 Heads

I'm thinkin about buyin this engine for my 69. I'll carburate it put on some headers. Are these heads fully compatable with any intake and exhaust hardware that I had on my old 302? Thanky.

Yea , only the GT40P heads have the different spark plug locations, making it hard to fit some headers to. Get the motor with the B303 cam and add 1.7 roller rockers to it.

Unless you're dead set on the aluminum heads, you might check out http://www.karkraft.com/long_blocks.htm . They've got GT40 iron headed 5.0 motors for $1995. That would give you an extra $1400 to have fun with...

Carnivore, take a look at the Jegs website http://www.jegs.com/ if you're interested in that engine. They did have a special on it $3100 plus shipping. I bought a leftover explorer motor to modify recently for a very resonable price. In the end it would have been cheaper and less time consuming to buy that motor to start. Also check around to see if there is a reputable builder in your area.

I'm not a fan of ANY Ford head. IMO they are the worst head of any non production head.

Did you ever contact Kar Kraft and inquire about their engines and how they're built? Just curious really.... I've never had any personal dealings with them, but Kar Kraft has been around a while and used to get a fair amount of print in magazines in the early '90s, so I'm guessing they're pretty legit.

No, I didnt... I think I'll look more closely into them next time though... Some pretty freaking sweet deals on there.
