Probably stupid question about hc trap

How do you get the stupid thing past that lip? It's probably quite simple but i dont want screw anything up by getting fustrated with it . Stupid hc trap and ford

the best way I found was to use 2 flat head screw drivers and needle nose plyers.. put one of the flat hease in and work it out of th elip slowle and use the other to keep it out and work it around.. in the mean time use the plyers to pull out the trap.. nice and easy..
