I had a q about advancing the timing curve on efi 5.0's.

I have always bumped the base up to 13-15 (spout out) and it seems to me that there are some downsides to doing so. More base seems to mess with cold starts and also bucking during part throttle when the engine is still cold. My 85 coupe is efi (mass air) and has typical aluminum h/c/i setup and when the base is set to 10 degrees it runs and starts better (cold and hot) but doesn't quite have the wot kick compared to when the base advanced to 14. My turbocharged hatch is set at 10 degrees base and I only added timing at wot and the car runs better overall than my coupe. I guess what I'm asking is will modified 5.0's drive better with the stock timing curve than when it's advanced? If so, then why not have something that only gives more timing at wot. haha I know a tune will fix the issues i'm having..... gonna be ordering a tweecer next week

thanks,

Drew
