Strong Gas/exhaust Smell At Idle

I purchased the car used and it runs fine. I just find the exhaust has a stronger smell than most cars. Is it a characteristic of these cars? I have a 2001 Bullitt. From what I know the only mods are h pipe and Borla exhaust. Is there something I can change to help with this?

thanks

looks like 2 on the factory mid pipe

Cats are inefficient when they are cold, so if you smell gas fume smell at cold engine temps they just aren't warmed up yet. If you smell rotten eggs when they are warm that's an indicator that the cats are going bad.

My mom's DeVille reeks of gasoline when it first starts but after it's warmed up it does not smell as strong.

Maybe take off the mid pipe and see if someone gutted the cats. Is that h pipe aftermarket? Cuz stock h pipes came with 4 converters.

Sometimes people can bang the substrate out to make it look like it's got cats for inspections purposes.

thanks everyone. I only see 2 cats on the mid pipe. The O2 sensors dont have mill eliminators on them. Seems like its only during initial warming up of the car.
