SVO Exhaust

How was the SVO's exhaust set up? Was it a true dule exhaust that split after the cats then went into two mufflers? Or did it split after a single muffler?

You can't have "true duels" on only 4 cylinders....any duel exhaust from any 4 cylinder is going to have a Y pipe at some point, either going into 2 different mufflers or even a single muffler with a duel exits running to 2 tail pipes.



I guess if you got really crazy and creative you could somehow make a pair of 2 primary manifolds, but that still wouldn't worth with a turbo. One turbo = single exhaust...there's no other way.

Anyway, to answer your question, it was split shortly after the cat and had two mufflers, yes.

84 and early 85's had single exhaust i believe..duals 85.5 and 86..im pretty sure of that

Early SVOs had a single pipe & muffler with dual polished tips. The later models are set up as Red_LX said ... I can check the exact years when I get home later tonight.
