Timing chain slack question

Hi guys, trying to fix a bolt I broke off when changing the waterpump out. Figured I would put a double roller on while I'm taking the cover off, but I guess somebody already put a double roller on it already. Anyway, it seems the right side has slack in it, while the left side is pretty tight. Here's a vid to better describe it.

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i8.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid8.photobucket.com/albums/a19/zennx/MVI_0153.flv">

Isn't there someway to adjust it? Should I put the new one on or just send it back to summit?

If you rotate the crank around, does the slack change? I'm sure it has to do with what valves are pushing against the lifters more than anything. That chain does have some wear, however. Shouldn't it be around 1/2" of slack for a new chain?

That chain is toast. Get a new one. Thanks for the great vid. I think that's the best way anyone has ever shown a problem on this forum that I have seen.

Seeing more slack on one side than the other is normal
Like was said, one side has tension, the other don't

You would see that on a new tc

How many miles are on that tc?

:nice:

That actually looks like a factory double roller, based on the part number cast into the cam sprocket.

FWIW, it looks like it has just a touch more slack than the new double roller Summit set I put on mine last spring. :)
