trans might be going out, also clutch ?s

hey guys, i havent posted in awhile, but i gotta question. my trans has always acted alil funny, popped outta first a few times, and periodically shifting into second is tuff, usually when hauling ass. 2-3 is sometimes ruff too. at first, id pull the clutch pedal up till it clicks, i was told that adjusts the clutch, and yes, it shifted without any prob. but now that no longer works, and i think the clutch is starting to go. ive noticed also that the car seems to drag alil in first, seems like the clutch is slippin a bit. i know the trans will need a rebuild, but i drive it pretty easily, only really get on in like once every couple of weeks, or when i do, i take time shifting i dont jam it. SO, im selling my car in august, and id REALLY like to not rebuild the trans. will putting in a new clutch make the trans last longer? or will it put more stress on it? what kinda clutch? prolly just a stocker, instead of a stronger gripping one huh? thanks for imput guys...
