Greetings,
My uncle just picked up a '73 with a 302 and it's missing its carburator. Can someone tell me which one it had?
He said the PO told him that the carb was changed from a 500 cfm to a 300 cfm and that's why the hp rating was only 140 (instead of 210).

I'm guessing it gets an Autolite 2100 w/ 1.08" venturi but can someone confirm?

Thanks!

He bought the car last weekend but won't take delivery until this weekend so I don't have the casting number of the intake. I know it's a 2 barrel intake though. He said it was set up for an electric choke (vs the heater tube coming from the exhaust manifold like on my '69 302).
Was there more than one 2 barrel used in '73?
What are the specifics of the 2100-D?

Platonic Solid is correct! In 1973 there was only one 302. Engine code "F" - 302 ci 2V, V8 141Hp... As long as you still have the factory intake you can hunt down the Motorcraft 2100-D Carb like Platonic Solid suggested. However, the first thing people like to do when they buy a V8 with a 2V is swap the intake for a new aluminum 4V intake and a new Holley or Edelbrock 4V... So it looks like your gonna have to wait til you take delivery of the car. Let us know.... :nice:

What factors caused the 302 2V to drop from 210 hp to 141 in '73? Was the carb to blame or was it something else (heads/compression ratio, additional smog equipment, etc)???

The last time the 302 2V had 210hp (from the factory)was in 1971... But that was still a 2V. So I wouldnt blame it all on the carb, my best guess would be like u said (heads/compression ratio, additional smog equipment, etc)... But dont worry, there are still many ways to squeeze out a bit more power out of the factory 141hp...

The biggest difference causing the drop in horsepower ratings from '71 to '73 was the adoption of SAE Net ratings in '72 vs. SAE Brake HP ratings previously. In '71 the power output was measured at the crank with open exhaust and NO accessories or water pump. In '72 it was with full exhaust and all accessories, including PS and A/C installed and operating. The '73 heads are still the small (58.2cc) chambers as in '71.

The 1973 302 should have a 2150, not a 2100. The main feature of the 2150 was a pull-off on the rear half of the air cleaner flange.
