What Transmision Fluid For My Tremec T-5?

I wouldnt use motor oil or anything else when there are quality synthetic ATF's out there.

+1, the WC T-5 cannot run motor oil or gear oil. It's just too thick. It needs the thinner ATF to lubricate the inner bearings. The trans may shift fine, but you are hurting the bearings on the mainshaft (which is expensive)

Early non-WC t-5's could run the thicker gear or motor oil...82-mid 84

What two bolts? You said that it was leaking from the front of the trans so if you tightened the bolts attaching the trans to the bell housing all you did was seal the fluid inside the bell. You'll still have a leak

Well then you still have a leak. It's leaking down from the input shaft which is INSIDE the bellhousing. You'll need to take the t-5 out to fix that.

The tailhousing to the main case holds fluid, but the tranny to the bellhousing is a dry connection. No fluid should leak there at all. If it is it's coming from the input.

Its hard to describe but there is no fluid in the bellhousing. It is impossible to leak into there from where the actual leak is/was.
