Which Trans. do I have?

Hi guys,

I have one of those grey-area 2001 GTs. It seems to have some of the older 99-early 01 parts, and some of the later-01 thru 04 parts also.

My build date is 11/00

Want to order a Tri-Ax, been trying to figure out what trans. is in my car. Is there a letter or number code in the VIN that will tell me which one I have?

If your door code has a K under transmission it's a T3650. Otherwise it's a T45.

FORD made TRANSMISSION changes half way thru the 2001
PRODUCTION year ON THE MUSTANG. Transmission APPLICATION
AND CONFIRMTION is NECESSARY. !!

THIS IS DONE by reading the DOOR code
on the drivers DOOR.(inside)

Here is a typical door code .

THE designation for transmission STYLE and TYPE are located under the TR location.

IF your car has a K under the TR location as SHOWN above then your car
HAS THE 3650 transmission and REQUIRES the 3650 tremec SHIFTER.

just jack the car up and look where the drain plug is. If it's facing directly downwards then it's a tremec 3650. if the drain plug is at an angle then it's a T-45.
