Well, let me start off by saying that I hate life. I was driving my friend home and it was raining but really cold. The road was icing up so I was going 20 on a 45 road. I know better to go any faster. Well, I go around this turn that wasnt anything special but hit a nice huuuuuge patch of black ice. The stang turned completely sideways and my friend yells "Oh God, Allan." I yelled "Ian, lean back and hold on!" I took my arm off the shifter and pushed him into the seat and held my arm on his chest so to lessen his impact. I looked up and about 15 feet away is this gigantic tree. So I said to myself "well, no way out, so **** it." So I closed my eyes and waited for it. I hit the tree on the passenger side and the air bags deploy. I got slung into my air bag which hit me in the face. The my knee got jammed into the steering column. Ian came forward a little and my arm came off, hit into his air bag and I guided his body back. He freaked out bc he didnt know the airbags let off this powder. He yells "Allan, get out now!" I knew what was going on and I was in soooo much pain. So I got out and fell on the ground. I crawled into the womans yard and she called the ambulance. I got up and made sure Ian was alright. His dad came and told me "It wasnt your fault and it shows that you have enough character to jeopordize your life to save my son." I thanked him and went and looked at my car. I then walked away from them and just broke down. I saw 4 years of working in Walmart and Golden Corral go to ****. My most prized possession was taken away from me. Luckily I didnt get a ticket. The cop confirmed the speed and damage fit. He told my parents he was proud that i did everything right. Good news is that i can get some new suspension stuff ive wanted and the smoked clear corners and headlights. Another good thing is that my brand new hood, mirror, and rims are totally untouched. I called my girlfriend who is in another state competing for cheerleading and she was freaking out. I got her to calm down. So, Ive broken one of my carpals in my left wrist (my dominant hand), I messed my knee up really badly, my back is screwed, and the arm that held my friend down is bruised badly. What a "great" night. Im so glad Ian is alright. I guess no matter how much you practice being cautious, there is ALWAYS a way to mess up. Hopefully someone can benefit from this experience, aside from me.

im sorry to hear that but remember the car CAN be replaced, you and your friends can not....im glad to hear you were smart enough to be going slow...most kids our age (im 18) are not smart enough to realize when they cant drive fast.....dont worry about the car....ive lost friends in car wrecks its no fun.....all of the caused by stupidity

yeah... I hate those people who tailgate you in pouring rain or snow, trying to get you to go faster when you know it's not smart... glad to hear no permanant damage to you... hope you get your car back to normall soon...

-I just don't drive anymore in horrible weather after I lost control and went into a ditch... you never know what might happen...

sorry about your car :( i went off the road lastyear because of ice. i was doing about 30-35 and was going around a slight curve and the rear decided it wanted to come sliding out and i slid sideways into a mailbox then into a fence that spun my car 180 somehow (all happen so fast i couldnt think)... well heres pics of my carnage :(

man that sucks. i hope you recover soon, and i knwo i sound like a father eventhough im not tha tmuch older than you, but it makes me really proud that you protected your friend and put urself in deliberate danger like that. that true character, and that will never go away. you might have gone into this loosing a car but you might just have gained a lifetime friend and the respect of many of us fellow board members and pony riders.

At least you are safe man. And you seem to have a lot more sense than I did when I was your age (only 3 years ago), I wrecked my stang a month after I got it , only mine was because I was being a jackass and going to fast. It can be fixed..........

Im in Northern Virginia. Yeah, my friend had a couple CD shards in his hand and the rest of his soda on his face. My car looks baaaaaaaaad. It brought me to tears when i saw it. Well, I have a swollen eye, neck pains, lower back pains, a bruise from where the seatbelt clicks in, my knee is swollen and black and my arm is burned and cut. None of that is bad to me. Hopefully my frame isnt bent, otherwise it is time to upgrade and restart my journey of paying off a car. It took me 4 years for that love of my life, this one is gonna suck. Im looking at 2 cars, a 96 Cobra with 96k on it or a 02 Saleen with 9600. Naturally, the Saleen is more expensive. But I am determined to upgrade if worse come to worse. Thanks for all the nice things ive heard from you guys. It kinda takes the burden off a little. My friend Ian came by with his mom to talk about it and she hugged me. Ive been depressed all today and im finally lightening up. Yeah, cars can be fixed. Its just hard to see your first love so banged up.

Good that you're able to be here talking about it. Says a lot the way you protected your friend. I'm sure in the end you'll wind up making out on the deal with the saleen or the cobra, or fixing yours. Good luck whichever it is. :flag:

sorry to hear about that :( but good thing you both made it out alright. It was very noble of you what you did for your friend, if only the world had more guys like you! I hope you have a speedy recovery, and keep stanging in the future!

take care :)

damn man, im 17 too and i had a very minor accident from yours and i can just imagine how much that must suck... i feel real bad for you bro, but like everyone else said you and your friend came outta it and ultimately thats all that really matters... im sure your parents are really proud of you for doing what you did to keep your friend safe... under the circumstances awesome job man...

I had a friend who died and was a great mechanical help to my friends and I, so what we did is we built a car in his honor (he loved odd combo's so we rigged out a geo metro into a bad-ass turbo charged rally car... pretty funny) anyway, make your next car something to be damn proud of, and dedicate it to your last car :D Make your last car proud that your loving this one so damn much :D (Sorry, trying to add a little hope)

Im gonna keep posting to let everyone know how its going. Hell, if Faith (my cars name) is half of what I hype her up to be, she'll be fine. This will just give me a reason to slap on a body kit. I am gonna be pissed to see my new insurance premium. Those bastard insurance companies on gonna pull a fast one on me. If my car cannot be salvaged, I'm definently rebuilding the new one in her memory. The 94 Canary Yellow GT was mine and my dad's dream car. He got it and then i bought it off of him. I'm not letting go so easily. And I will not hesitate to kick some insurance salemen's ass if I'm paying 600 a month.

Best of luck to you and your friend, the car can be fixed. Hell I know its a bitch to wreck something you really love, but time will heal you. :)

If your car cannot be fixed, go with the saleen. =D
