Insurance or not, go to the damn doctor or emergency room.

You need stitches, xrays, and some antibiotic. If it gets screwed up, it will be near impossible to fix.

I fell off my boat and stepladder a year ago last Oct, and broke my left leg at the ankle. After 2 months on cruthes, a month in a walking support, 2 months of physical therapy, and 9 months of excercising, I can finally walk normally. In a few months, I may be ready to run a bit. You do not want to risk your feet!

As an old guy who used to try not worrying about injuries, it's not the way to do it! I wear steel toed boots at my desk every day! Had a guy on a job last summer that was not wearing them, and cut off a couple toes when a metal stair came loose on his foot....

You risk damage that will catch up with you sooner than you think!

Exactly. You really need to go get that checked out. Stitches are DEFINITELY needed in my opinion. You most like have nerve damage, which is why it doesn't hurt that much. That definitely needs to get sewn up.

I broke my knuckle into three pieces on my right index finger (right handed). Got an X ray the next day (didn't know it was broken), and the X ray tech so don't worry about it, go home, it's a clean break, but you won't need setting or anything.

I then went to the best hand specialist in FL (used to work with my father). He said it was the worst break he had ever seen. 3 surgeries, 6 months of physical therapy, blah blah. It sucked. But at least I can use my finger now.

Just go have it looked at, please!

I agree with everyone telling you to go to the hospital, I've got some pretty nasty scars and I have very little feeling in my index finger and part of my leg because I didn't go to the hospital when I wrecked a motorcycle.

Also it was proved on mythbusters that no matter how heavy the object dropped is, the steel toe wont fold over and chop ff your toes, at worst your toes just get smashed

As someone working in the medical field, I gotta agree with all of the above. So what if you don't have insurance ... it ain't worth losing your toes over, dude. Bite the bullet, head to your nearest Urgent Care center (less wait time than the ER, probably costs less on the average, too), and get that thing patched up ASAP. My dad smashed his toes similarly last month - some dude at work ran over his foot with one of those scissor-lift things with the hard metal wheels when he wasn't looking - got the blood-filled shoe and purple toes going on just the same as you. If nothing else, it's best to have some x-rays to rule out the need for corrective surgery before it's too late, and DEFINITELY to get some antibiotics prescribed to prevent an infection from that whole mess ... and hey, maybe some groovy painkillers, too. :D

I have been hobbling everywhere tonight, back and fourth from the garage, went to Wal-Mart and rode the Mart Cart though lol. From trying to walk on it at an angle, my ankle and lower leg is getting pretty sore now, oh well, maybe the ole speed skating shin muscles will come back from years ago! It started trying to rain on my while I was moving stuff from the house to the garage, had to do the speed hobble!

Everybody I have talked to that has broken a toe said all the doctor will do is x ray it and send me home for the most part. I ran FULL speed trying to answer a phone years ago, hit my toe on a door frame bare footed, it stopped me, I went flying head first all the way into a bedroom. My toe was CROOKED but never did any of this color changing stuff really, went to the Dr and he said it was jammed and in a spasm, not broken but there was nothing he could do wether it was broken or not.

I dont have health insurance and my credit is already ruined with dr bills from over the years, if I go to the hospital, Im gonna get raped bill wise, end up trying to work something out with them just in time to get turned over to collections, thats the way it always seems to work anyways.

I have been keeping the cut cleaned out with peroxide and keeping Neosporin on it. I have split fingers open way worse and not gone to the dr and they healed okay, well my finger tip is dead now. I have had stitches in my head, that wasnt too bad though but that mofo was BLEEDING pretty bad and wouldnt stop for the most part.

Im a chronic back/neck/hip/shoulder pain sufferer loaded with trigger points and crunchy joints, Im pretty used to pain but this DOES suck. I dunno what Im gonna do yet, maybe wait and see how it does in the next few days and decide from there. Im pretty sure they are broke, about to go try to buddy tape them together maybe in a bit and then attempt sleep.

This foot is really pissing me off by hindering any kind of progress Im trying to make with anything.

Yeah we had a guy at my last job get his foot ran over by a fork lift....that's easily 2-3 thousand pounds of weight at that one wheel that ran over his foot. It did blow the steel out the sides of the boot and it smashed his toes to hell and back and broke all of them, including some bones in his foot, but the doctor's report was that without the boots his foot would have been squished clean off

So Daggar how about brain pics? Is that a go or no?

Have you ever been checked or diagnosed with fibromyalgia? my wife has it, and your symptoms sound familliar.

Also, i thought that steel toed boots were desigend so that if something seriously heavy did fall on them, it would cut the toes clean off so they could be reattached later, rather than them being squished for life.

YOU DEFINATELY NEED STITCHES IF YOU SEE FAT I JUST CUT MY INDEX FINGER AND I WAITED 2 HOURS BEFORE I DECIDED TO GO STITCH IT UP .THE BLEEDING HAD STOPPED BUT I COULD SEE THE FAT . I ENDED UP WITH 7 STITCHES ,LOOKING AT THAT TOE YOU NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR

Yea, been diagnosed with fibromyalgia years ago, dunno if it's true or not, dont have insurance anymore, cant get insurance anymore, cant check up on things. FM = tender points, I have actual trigger points, like thick knotty deals in the connection tissue. Massage therapists always freak out at how bad I am, especially before I was in the car wreck last year, they would say "what 40 car pile up were you in?" haha
