rim dilema

i just recently bought a set of slotted mags off craigslist. now, the guy said they were 4.5" bolt pattern, and i double confirmed it with him. however, in actuality, they are 4.75".

i have granada spindles on the front of my 66 and an 8" with crown vic discs on the rear.

now, i know the easiest would be to sell these rims and buy a tire that fits, but i really like these rims, and got them for $80. however, is there a way that i can convert it to a 4.75 bolt pattern? are those 1" spacers the only way? could i use GM rotors for my brakes or something?

what are my alternative options to selling them?

Resell em on ebay and buy a set that fits. These are regularly listed on ebay all the time. Spacers are a bad idea. The backspacing on slots is already too shallow.

You could buy aftermarket axles with the 4.75 pattern and then have your drums redrilled to match, and buy the Wilwood front disc brake kit with hubs that are double drilled for both the Ford and GM patterns... just sell 'em on e-bay like D.Hearne said!

The adapters will work if thats your only choice. We had a 1.5" on a prerunner that saw regular off road duty and never had a problem

You'll need at least a 1" adapter for your wheels to clear the original studs, unless the back of the wheel has hollow spots for them. So if you already have the correct offset/backspacing adding another inch would not help you any. Good deals are hard to come by, but unfortunately you might just have to let this one go.

Back in the day, when slots were at their most popular, many were what was called "unilug". The stud holes were slotted to work on bolt patterns ranging from 5 on 4" to 5 on 5". Then they used oval washers to seal the deal.

Take those rims to a machine shop and have them modded to 'unilug'.
If you really like them, then it would be worth it, and you only have to do it once, and your rims fit forever.

Well, I was trying to be diplomatic about it!

Not something I would do, but he seems so hung up on keeping those rims that I threw it out as an option.

It'll probablly cost him as much to get the slots made as it would to get another set of wheels.
