Well i have finally decided that to help complete the look of my car (currently in the paint shop) that i want to get a new cat-back system with 3.5 inch tips.

Well the only two i see are mac and magnaflow. I currently have (I think) two chamber flows on it, which i plan on getting a few bucks out of.

I see that need-for-speed has the regular magnaflow exhaust listed and the upgrade to magna packs for 20 extra bucks. There website has the price at 400-420 which is cheaper then anybody else. (hopefully its up to date.)

So which one will sound better.. Im looking for a higher pitch pinging sound like a borla exhaust makes. Or like corvettes and some bad ass cameros sound like sometimes...

Another possibility is if someone sells a decent tip to put on my current tail pipes that actually look good?

Since Magnaflow is a straight through design, Id go with that. Match that up with an x-pipe (specifically Dr. Gas) and itll have an awesome tone to it. I have a similar exhaust exhaust with BBK LTs and a Dynomax catback (straight through like the Magnaflows) and it screams up top. Above 4k is just awesome, and with a built engine like yours it should sound incredible.

Magnaflows are a straight through design? That's cool...I always thought they were chambered like Flowmasters and MACs.

I love my Magnaflow catback but doesn't have a "higher pitched pinging sound" that moneypit94 mentioned...but neither does MAC. I have a ProChamber though, you might get that high pitched pinging sound with an X-pipe...I dunno.

I would go with the Magnaflow just for the fact that it's stainless which means it'll last, is easy to clean, and looks great year round. My old chrome MAC tips were always rusting and were a PITA to keep looking good.

Well i have the MAC catback and an O/R X and i would say that it has a much more old school tone to it, very loud and burly but very old school. My friend has a 98 cobra with an O/R X and Magnapacks, and it sounds awesome, it screams like no tommarow and is one of the loudest cars i have heard on the street. It has a very exotic car sound to it. I think u want the exotic sound not the old school right?

MagnaFlows ar low tone and MAC's are loud as hell and burly sounding. I sold my MagnaFlow Cat-Back for the MAC Cat-Back with 3" tips. I will try to find some pics with the MagnaFlows. I got rid of them b/c they were to quiet for me and the damn tips are a mofo to keep ajusted even. I just had a bad exp with them but they bling like a mofo. :D

You will gain alot more HP w/ Magnaflows then you will w/ Mac. Plus if you ever go the force induction route it will save you from having to change cat back systems if you already have Mangaflows.

Does anybody have pics from the side of how magna flow tips look coming out? I know there are some complaints on that...

Here's mine when I was installing my magnaflow exhaust. Well, actually that's my friend working on my car and his dad on the left. That's probably their first time working on a Ford since they're chevy fans. Oh, and that rust bucket on the background is my friend's 3rd gen camaro. He's been trying to put it together for about three years now. He's got an LT1 in it so far, just needs painting.

Oh yeah, back to topic. I like the sound of it. It's louder then stock but not too loud for me which is what I wanted. I've yet to put a mid pipe on so it'll get louder. I hate the way the tips look as well. I would like to replace them with a longer tip that goes all the way to the rear tires. It looks stupid how it looks from the side, you have a 2.5" pipe coming out from the tires then you have the 3.5" tips attached to that :notnice:

I think SLP are the same way, I think.

Forced Induction? whats that?

Im joking of coarse. I think I fit under that catigory already... So your saying i should have went to a straight threw exhaust instead of my chambered exhaust awhile back?

I have the magnaflow magnapacks on my 94. I love the sound, but I ditched the 3.5" tips becuase they look GHETTO.... a 2.5" exhuast with all of a sudden huge tips looks like the fart cans on alot of imports around here. I went 2.5" and it is mean as hell sounding.

From most of the tests i have seen almost all catback are within 5hp or so of each other.

Not if you go w/ force induction. Maybe hes not going to go that route at all but if hes considering it then its better go to w/ a stright through design now b/c you will regreat it later if you dont like I am. Saw a friend yesterday pick up 23 RWHP on the dyno w/ blown application by switching from flowmasters to Magnaflows.

Look at my obove post.......Proof is in the pudding, I saw the gains my self in black and white. He had 364 RWHP w/ the flows and switched to magnaflows and went up to 380 + RWHP.

PS: Like Im sure you did I picked up my exhuast long before my S/C, I had no plans of going blown but now I Have a paxton sitting under my hood thats being held back b/c of my 2 chamber flows. N/A it was pretty fee flowing, when you go blown its a whole diffrnet story. If I were you Id go w/ Mangaflows or Dynomax Ultraflows.
