Your figures prove that it's a heads-up race. Magazines repeatedly state that when test results are that close, it's basically a tie because 1 tenth one way or the other can easily be swapped on any given day/car/driver. Your obsession with thinking the SRT4 is a faster car is like saying "my yard stick works better than your tape measure". When Mustangers talk about "competition", we're talking about cars that would seriously compete for market share against the Mustang. The SRT4 does not "compete" against Mustang market share, even if the damn thing ran 8's and ran on water, because nobody who's a fan of what the Mustang represents AS AN ENTIRE PACKAGE, THE WHOLE CAR, has the slightest sliver of interest in toodling around in a econo-box-derivative toy car with a steroided 4-pot bee hive. The new '05 Porsche Carrera is faster than the Mustang GT, but it's not "competition", it's in a different class for a different group of people. Likewise on the other side of the spectrum (major understatement), You're driving a Neon...... A NEON.... As I said, it could run 8's, have a hibachi and mini-fridge in the trunk, leap over small buildings and be blessed by the Pope, and nobody here would be excited about a Neon, of any tune or trapping. You're fighting a lost cause here. You can put a hot motor into a Neon, you can make that Neon run 11's, maybe even cheap, but why... I still think 2nd gen Camaros are some of the nicest cars I've laid eyes on.

2nd gen were some of the ugliest, but i guess everyone has their own opinion, i've never been much of a fan of any of them except for the 1st gen, but those renderrings for the 2007 look bad a**. It will be interesting to see the actual specs

you have any idea what a newer GT with 4.10 gears and some sticky tires will do?

the little turbo cars have always been easy to tweak, look at the 1st gen DSM's. fast and fun for awhile, until something breaks. how many 11 sec passes do you really expect to make on that motor?

blah blah blah about twice the cylinders, but hey buddy you must be forgetting about the f-ing hairdryer hanging off your motor, let me throw a turbo on my stang and see who wins. thats what i thought. they are different animals, so run your handful of 11 sec ET's, spend 10k to do a performance rebuild on your motor when it blows, and have fun being spanked by a 2000 GT with gears, exhaust and a blower...all stock internals, mind you.

Well...... Actually, Ford hasn't owned that "fastest street car" moniker with that 14 second 0-100-0 for awhile now. The new Viper, Porsche GT2, that new AMG 600SL and the new Mclaren-built Mercedes supercar and a host of more exotic but nonetheless "street cars" obliterate that 14 second time. Even a Z06 can match that 14 second figure. The Cobra held the crown for a long long time, but there's some simply STUPID fast cars that you can buy and drive as a daily driver today if your pockets are deep enough. As far as FORD power goes, the new Ford GT is WAY WAY WAY faster than the 427 Cobra was. They recorded an honest and certified 205 mph in high-speed testing in Italy recently!!!!

Hey Ricks your right about the modern cars. But when you consider the technology in the 60's, the cost of the car then, (about 7K, you can still buy a new CSX for about 130K) the SC was & will always be the bench mark for the ultimate street car.

Anyone who has driven one will agree, it is a brut, none of that cushy a/c, roll up windows, etc.

Be fair now. I think it was actually over $8K, and in 1965 you could buy a nice 3,000 sq ft HOUSE for $20K. You've got to adjust for inflation. Even still, it was a bargain back then, no argument here.

If the Maro has a 375-400hp motor you could throw some slicks on and maybe a few bolt ons and have a 11 sec daily driver with little investment besides the cost of the car. The best part would be its all motor 11's.
